Disney Channel has ordered a third season of its hit comedy “Liv and Maddie,”
The series, starring Dove Cameron, is currently in the midst of its 24-episode second season with new episodes airing Sundays. The show first premiered in July 2013.
Season 3 is set to premiere this fall with production resuming this June in Los Angeles.
Cameron plays a dual role as both title characters in the half-hour sitcom, which follows the identical twin sisters — Liv, a girly-girl and teen actress; and Maddie, a stellar student and sports-loving tomboy — when Liv returns home from Hollywood, after her hit TV series wraps, having to readjust to normal life.
Cameron has become a major player in the Mouse House, as one of Disney’s signature starlets. “Liv and Maddie” was Cameron’s first-ever major role. Since, she has toplined the 2014 Disney Channel original movie “Cloud 9,” and has sparked a music career with videos running on the cabler. Next, she will star in the net’s highly anticipated TV movie “The Descendants,” which revolves around the offspring of Disney villains. Directed by “High School Musical’s” Kenny Ortega, Cameron has been cast as the daughter of Maleficent, played by Kristin Chenoweth.
“Liv and Maddie” also stars Joey Bragg, Tenzing Norgay Trainor, Kali Rocha and Benjamin King, and was created by John D. Beck and Ron Hart, who exec produce with Andy Fickman, John Peaslee and Betsy Sullenger. The series hails from It’s A Laugh Productions.
